On the one hand, you absolutely love spring. After all, it’s full of warm weather, blooming flowers, and lots of sunshine. But then, there’s the other side of the spring, which you know all too well if you suffer from seasonal allergies. As soon as you see the first flower bloom, you know that sneezing, itchy eyes, and other uncomfortable symptoms will follow. Fortunately, you can use these tips to reduce seasonal allergies this year.
Avoid Allergy Triggers as Much as Possible
Reducing your exposure to allergens is vital to reducing or eliminating your symptoms. That means that you shouldn’t pull weeds, mow the lawn, or do any other chores that will expose you to allergens. Thus, you have an excellent reason to delegate these tasks to someone else.
It’s not just about moving some chores off your to-do list, though. You should also avoid going out when it’s windy and dry outside since these conditions stir up pollen. Instead, try to go outside right after a refreshing rain. The rain reduces the amount of pollen in the air, so you can breathe easily.
Finally, remember that your clothes can pick up allergens when you’re outside. Take your clothes off and hop in the shower when you get home. And when it’s time to wash and dry those clothes, use your dryer instead of hanging them outside. While air-drying has some benefits, your clothes can attract quite a bit of pollen when hanging up outside.
Stay on Top of the Pollen Count
You can also reduce your allergies this year by staying on top of the pollen count. Tune into a local weather app or TV station to learn the count in your area each day. If it’s high, do your best to stay inside during the morning. The pollen count tends to peak during the morning and go down throughout the day. Also, take allergy medication before going outside. By taking it before your symptoms start, you might be able to prevent an allergy outbreak.

Keep Your Car and Home Allergen-Free
You probably won’t be able to prevent every single allergen in the air from entering your house or car this season, but you can greatly reduce the number of invaders by following some tips. First, use the air conditioner instead of opening the windows in your house and car.
Also, consider setting up a dehumidifier in your home. It’ll remove the excess moisture from the air, making it harder for mold, mildew, and other allergens to thrive.
You can also use a couple of portable-high efficiency (HEPA) products in your house to fight off allergens. First, get an air purifier with a HEPA filter for our bedroom. These filters do an excellent job of filtering out allergens and other particles.
Then, consider buying a vacuum that uses a HEPA filter. Then, you can remove the allergens that have turned your carpet into a home base.
Keep these tips in mind as you navigate allergy season. Then, you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and scents of spring without sneezing your way through the season.
